David Beckham received a knighthood at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The former England captain, 50, was one of the individuals accepting honours for his services to sport and philanthropy. In recent months, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the King’s birthday honours.
Soccer Achievements
The player first appeared in England's top division for the Red Devils in 1995 and was a key member that secured a thrilling Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat the German giants with last-minute strikes.
In total, he scored 85 goals and collected honours including multiple English championships and two FA Cups as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in 2013. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has supported a number of charity causes, including acting as a charitable representative for global aid group Unicef since the mid-2000s.

Philanthropy and Beyond
Last year, the sports star, who has described himself as a “huge royalist”, was named an official representative for the King’s Foundation, an educational charity established by the King in 1990. In 1998 he was declared most stylish man of the year by GQ magazine and he has modelled for brands like H&M, Armani, and the luxury label.
David married his wife Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the pair have a family of four kids together – their eldest, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
