Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to tailored sessions made via Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four classes of assignments, but although many simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Some of these locked weapons may soon earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and only works at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

A different forum member highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe an additional option if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

However, when completing the missions in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if several of these tasks are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

At the moment, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in coming revisions.
