Doris Secures Spot in Ireland Team But McCarthy Left Out
Newly reappointed manager Andy Farrell has included skipper Caelan Doris in his Ireland squad for the fall matches, however lock McCarthy has been excluded.
The captain, who has not played since undergoing shoulder surgery in the start of May, recently returned to Leinster training, though his fitness is uncertain if he will be ready to face New Zealand in Chicago on 1 November.
Second row Joe McCarthy, however, was not considered after failing to recover from the foot injury he sustained during the opening British and Irish Lions Test against the Wallabies in July.
Ulster player Izuchukwu and southern province winger Calvin Nash are not included due to injury, while number 15 Hugo Keenan was previously excluded after undergoing a hip operation following the summer tour.
Dublin province prop McCarthy - the brother of Joe - is the only new player in the 34-player squad, however the Irish Rugby Football Union states uncapped Munster pair Edwin Edogbo and Brian Gleeson and previously capped Connacht winger Bolton will travel to Chicago as "backup".
Following facing the All Blacks at Soldier Field in a repeat of their previous meeting, Ireland host the Brave Blossoms, the Wallabies and world title holders the Springboks in the Irish capital.
"There's an exciting look to the panel and it's a chance for the more experienced members and for those who made their debuts on the summer tour to Georgia and the Lobos," commented Farrell, who returns to Ireland duty after a break to coach the Lions tour to the southern hemisphere.
In a largely experienced squad, the Dublin club's Prendergast and Munster's Jack Crowley will once again vie for the starting number 10 spot. The number 10 jersey is still up for grabs, with Prendergast and Crowley poised to play against each other for the first occasion in Saturday's URC match at the Dublin venue.
Frawley is the additional number 10 chosen as Farrell opting against calling up Leinster's Harry Byrne.
At scrum-half, the Ireland boss has picked Lions tourist Gibson-Park and Casey, who captained Ireland to the summer international victories over the Lelos and Portugal. Additionally, there is a recall for the western province's Caolin Blade, chosen to teammate Murphy.
Henshaw, Bundee Aki, Ringrose and Stuart McCloskey represent an veteran group of midfield options. Jamie Osborne is a further choice in the centres, but the youngster is additionally a frontrunner to cover for Keenan at full-back.
Outside backs Lowe, Mack Hansen, O'Brien and Stockdale are included. O'Brien impressed on his first Ireland outings over the summer with two tries apiece in the victories over Georgia and Portugal.
McCarthy is the only fresh addition in the Ireland pack. The loose-head prop has been in a couple of his province's three league games so far and featured in the second string's loss by England in the English city previously.

Munster lock Ahern, who received his first two caps in those Tests, is kept in the squad, and experienced Ulster second row Henderson returns after missing the summer tour.
Conan, who played in all three Lions matches over the summer, is set to cover for Doris should the skipper fails to recover fitness soon enough to play New Zealand.
The Ireland squad will assemble in Dublin on Monday before traveling to the US on the following day.
