Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the new Hunger Games movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.

Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

An Important Comeback for the Franchise

Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

This marks the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.

A New Era in Panem

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several accomplished actors in important characters:

  • Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

Current Projects and Release Timeline

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the filming timeline:
