Preview the Revamped Classic Journey: A Complimentary Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Debuts Shortly.

Fans looking forward to the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. An exciting trial experience will go live on Jan. 7, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's opening hours. Notably, any progress achieved within this demo is eligible to be imported directly into the complete game upon its subsequent debut.

Beyond Just a Simple Re-release: A Thorough Overhaul

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined constitutes a comprehensive reimagining of the seminal 2000 RPG, originally released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant step away from recent Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously launched HD-2D versions, this reimagining embraces a striking 3D aesthetic. Locales are designed to evoke detailed dioramas, with party members having a whimsical toy-like look.

"Considering the 3DS version, the main quest was still notoriously lengthy. Consequently, the team came to a determination that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this experience for modern gamers."

Significant Gameplay Enhancements & Modernizations

Square Enix has implemented a host of modernizations to update the original experience. This encompasses:

  • Expedited Overworld Battles: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, weaker monsters are now dispatched directly on the field eliminating the need for entering a full traditional battle screen.
  • Adjustable Combat Speed: Players can speed up combat animations to rapidly power through easier fights.
  • Expanded Job Mechanics: One brand new job class was created for this remake. Furthermore, party members now have the capacity to take on a second vocation, greatly enhancing strategic options.

These refinements are designed to tackle one of the 2000 title's most noted points of feedback: its considerable length. The initial main quest could easily require over 100 hours to complete. This reimagined version has been expressly reworked to enhance flow and cut down on any repetition.
