Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth top-flight at home loss of 2025.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' next goal when Vicario gave away possession well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of booting it into touch, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

One of those booing sessions truly angered the manager.

"It came to my attention a few of our fans apparently booed the situation and booed following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the second goal was "completely avoidable".

"I do understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He is a great squad member, he's a true figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"That score was a error of mine, I take responsibility for it," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an simple score for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open net to target.

Ten seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments following the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," he remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct contact and place it on target. I had a good sense, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to come before the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you too – the opening was a redirected attempt, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single story, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and with luck something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have lost four straight home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious job at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
