NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features text commentary for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available through select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six of the NFL season , following last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.
But it proved positive to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall before direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They had the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, we said on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly and excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
New tight end their tight end has stepped up big while new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while keeps you in positive situations.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass all over, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.
His assets are his mobility, being able to throw on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great composure under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.
If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the area vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games at times and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. He can really build something up the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.
Payton owns a championship and has passed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him what he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team good enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
